Handy Manny!

I had the pleasure of making Tristan's 4th Birthday Cupcakes and Cake! It was all about Handy Manny...what a cute party!

I made Manny and all the tools out of fondant. Everything you see is edible! It took a liiiiiitle longer than expected to make, but now I know for next time!

Happy Birthday Tristan!!

Cal Coast Packing!

I made these cupcakes for the Man behind Cal Coast shipping and packing! We did little pieces of wood with nails and Cal Coast boxes!

It was so fun to make! Happy Birthday Dale!

Tip on How to Juice a Lemon!

I was making some lemon cupcakes today with lemon buttercream icing. One of my favorite childhood flavors; I always asked for it on my birthday!

When making lemon icing, I just HAVE to use fresh squeezed lemons, it makes it oh so much better! My mom's tip was to roll the lemon with the palm of your hand on the countertop before juicing, but my tip is even better!

How to get almost double the amount of lemon juice out of a lemon - microwave the lemon for 10-15 seconds and then squeeze! You won't believe how much juice you will get!

Happy Squeezing!

P.S. I haven't tried this for oranges, I would up the microwave time a little. But I bet it would be awesome when making fresh squeezed orange juice!

My Weekend!

Penguin Birthday Cake!!

Bridal Shower Cupcakes!

Paul Frank themed Cupcakes!

Paul up close!

I was so excited to get back to baking this weekend! And even better to get started in a beautifully clean kitchen! After taking December and half of January off, my kitchen was dying to have a little powdered sugar on the the counters and eggs overfilling the fridge!

I made the penguin cake for one of my favorite customers. I really have to say, I'm not a huuuuge fan of baking cakes. They are a little bit more work and I get really nervous making cakes! I only make one a weekend because they're a lot harder than cupcakes for me and I want to make sure it comes out smashing!

I was SO excited to make my best friend's daughter's cupcakes for her 2nd Birthday this weekend too! Her theme was Paul Frank and I was delighted to come up with my own version of Paul Frank Cupcakes!

Thanks for all your business this weekend! I look forward to a crazy, crazy busy week! My website launch sampler (If you want to buy one then let me know by Tuesday!), a Handy Manny Cake and Cupcakes and this Tuesday I'm going to make a few Tool cupcakes!

Wheeeew! I need a nap!

How to Crack an Egg..

Don't do it!!

I know you're thinking, I KNOW how to crack an egg! Who doesn't? But do you know how to crack an egg without getting any shell in your pancake batter, cookie dough or whatever else you're baking? Because ewww...who wants egg shell in their baked confections! I don't!!

Here's what to do, it's simple it's easy to do :) Crack your egg on a flat surface, not on the edge of the bowl, cup or whatever else is around. Just crack your egg on the flat surface of your counter top. One quick tap.

When I'm baking for others I always put the eggs in a separate bowl before I add it to my batter, just in case I get a "bad egg" or some other problem! But when I'm baking at home, I add that sucker right in :)

I hope this helps you in your kitchen just a smidge!

A new year is upon us and so quickly too! I can't wait to get back to baking after taking December off! It was wonderful to spend Christmas time with my daughter and Kev.

A new website is in the works and should be up soon! When my website is up, I'm going to have a big cupcake sale!
